BOC, PCCBI firm up partnership to advance reforms

BUREAU of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno took a time off his busy schedule to meet with the officers and members of the Philippine Chamber of Customs Brokers, Inc. (PCCBI) and firm up their partnership to advance and sustain the reforms he has started for the benefit of all waterfront stakeholders.

The dialogue last May 29 together with Atty. Agaton Uvero, Deputy Commissioner for Assessment and Operations (AOCG), provided an opportunity for both parties to discuss initiatives that will further strengthen the customs brokerage profession, enhance trade facilitation, and support the BOC’s modernization efforts.

Among the key outcomes of the meeting was the agreement to pursue initiatives that will strengthen coordination and institutional collaboration between the BOC and the customs brokerage sector.

These include the review of the Customs Administrative Order (CAO) 01-2001 to ensure their continued relevance to the evolving needs of trade, as well as the establishment of mechanisms that will facilitate regular dialogue, consultation, and the exchange of recommendations between the BOC and industry stakeholders.

“Sa pamamagitan ng tuloy-tuloy na dialogue at pakikipagtulungan, we can build a customs system that is more efficient, transparent, and responsive to the needs of the trading community and the Filipino people,” Commissioner Nepomuceno said.
