CHINA REMINDS US, ALLIES: ‘TAIWAN MEDDLING WOULD END IN CONFLICT’

‘There is only one China and Taiwan is a part of China’
THE People’s Republic of China reminded the United States and its Asian stooges such as Japan and the Philippines, to stop their continued interference in its internal affairs by supporting the minority voices in Taiwan calling for independence from the motherland, saying doing so would inevitably result to “clashes and even conflicts.”

Chinese President Xi Jinping repeated the warning as he hosted United States President Donald Trump and his delegation during their State Dinner in Beijing last May 14.

The official release by China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs circulated by state-owned CGTN quoted President Xi as telling the US leader that “the Taiwan question is the most important issue in China-U.S. relations.”

“If it is handled properly, the bilateral relationship will enjoy overall stability.

“Otherwise, the two countries will have clashes and even conflicts, putting the entire relationship in great jeopardy.”

Trump’s state visit, which ran from May 13 to May 15, would be Trump’s second visit to China since 2017, during his first term.

America’s first-tier oligarchs and billionaires such as Elon Musk and Jensen Huang of tech giant, NVIDIA, were part of the delegation, reflecting their eagerness—and apprehension—to return to the world’s biggest market that Trump effectively closed thru trade sanctions and tariffs since returning as president last year.

Taiwan is part of China.

Taiwan is an integral part of China where the US-backed dictatorship of Chiang Kai-shek fled after losing the Chinese Civil War in 1949 to the forces of the Communist Party headed by Chairman Mao Zedong.

It was also a military base and colony of Japanese Imperialism that Japan used to attack not only mainland China but other Asian countries such as the Philippines during its war of aggression in World War 2.

The rapprochement between China and United States starting with the visit of President Richard Nixon in February 1972 resulted to their signing of at least three agreements where Washington recognized that “there is only one China and Taiwan is a part of China.”

Months earlier, in October 1971, the General Assembly of the United Nations (UNGA) passed Resolution 2758 recognizing mainland China as “the only legitimate representatives of China to the United Nations, and to expel forthwith the representatives of Chiang Kai-shek from the place which they unlawfully occupy at the United Nations and in all the organizations related to it” (Pinoy Exposé, August 15, 2022).

Since then, the ‘One China Policy’ has been the bedrock of China’s foreign policy that the Philippines also recognized during President Marcos Senior’s state visit to China in June 1975.

President Xi said that while he and Trump agreed to a new “strategic stability” framework to guide their relationship moving forward, this would rise and fall over the issue of Taiwan.

“Taiwan independence” and cross-Strait peace are as irreconcilable as fire and water. “Safeguarding peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait is the biggest common denominator between China and the U.S.

“The U.S. side must exercise extra caution in handling the Taiwan question,” Xi also told Trump.

Despite the repeated reminders, Western Powers headed by American Imperialism continue to trample on China’s rights and sovereignty over Taiwan over the years including the Trump administration. Only last December, Trump approved round of military sales to Taiwan amounting to $11 billion and another $14 billion ahead of his visit to Beijing, as mentioned in a Reuters report last May 16.

Apparently affected by Xi’s frank statement, Trump told reporters during his trip back to Washington that he has not made up his mind if the arms sales to Taiwan would still proceed.

The Chinese leader’s clear warning that it is ready to use armed force should also be framed as pointed towards America’s leading lapdogs in Asia, Japan and the Philippines, under their current leaderships.

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and President Marcos Junior acknowledged that both countries would be “inevitably” drawn into the conflict over Taiwan should the US succeeds in using the Chinese province to start a war against China.

Thru the ‘Balikatan’ military exercises, the Philippines is actively playing its role as America’s designated proxy in its war preparations against China.
