THE Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Collection District under Coll. Atty. Yasmin Mapa announced the interdiction of illegal drugs hidden inside incoming parcels that were abandoned at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City valued at P21.406 million.
In a report to Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno, Mapa said the parcels were declared as various consumer items such as outdoor wall lamp, bag, digital media discs, merchandise, and a book, were subjected to examination after exhibiting suspicious indicators on December 15.
The follow-up physical inspection resulted to the discovery of 2.928 kilos of shabu with an estimated street value of ₱19,910,400.00, and 997 grams of high-grade marijuana (Kush) valued at ₱1,495,500.00.
The seized contrabands have been turned over to the custody of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Mapa added.
