US IMPERIALISM’S ‘OVERREACH’ IN IRAN

Top Counterterrorism expert resigns in protest; countries snub call to force open Hormuz
AMERICAN Imperialism and Zionist Israel’s traitorous attack against the sovereign Islamic Republic of Iran last February 28— based on lies as in the 2003 invasion of Iraq—has jeopardized not only global peace and stability, but also, global economic growth, as their joint criminal enterprise enters its fourth week.

As of this writing, the average global price of oil has already breached the $103 per barrel threshold with pump prices in the Philippines already shooting up to as much as ₱119 per liter of diesel from just around ₱60 per liter—already an all-time high–prior to the attack on Iran.

In the United States, Forbes Online reported that gasoline price now averages $3.88 per gallon across all states, up by $0.96 per gallon in February, before US Imperialism’ latest war project in the Middle East.

Attacking countries based on Israel’s lies

US State Secretary and concurrent National Security Adviser Mark Rubio, a day after the attack, inadvertently admitted that it was Israel who dragged the United States in the war by telling the media that Israel is hell-bent on attacking Iran and that it would be better for America to join since Iran would retaliate against US forces in the Middle East.

The decision to join Israel in attacking Iran was apparently reached after Prime Minister Banjamin Netanyahu visited US President Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida last February 10. It would be the Israeli warlord’s sixth visit to Trump since his re-election last year.

The various US military bases spread all over countries in the Middle East to surround Iran. They are now regular targets of Iran’s defensive attacks.

As far back as 1996, Netanyahu has been regularly using the bogey of a “nuclear threat” from Iran to justify an armed attack against another sovereign member of the United Nations.

It was also this same pack of lies– that Iraq under Saddam Hussein, was in possession of ‘WMDs’ (weapons of mass destruction)—that Netanyahu used to convince US President George W. Bush to invade Iraq in 2003.

The attack last February 28 occurred despite the US and Iran already reaching a preliminary agreement on the latter’s nuclear program brokered by Oman just a day before. This puts the onus of the crime squarely on US Imperialism and Zionist Israel before the whole world.

In June 2025, the US and Iran were also in the middle of a negotiation when the US and Israel treacherously attacked Iran resulting to the so-called ‘12-Days War.’

Unexpected consequences

But going to a full-month of the war, all US and Israel’s expectations—including their Arab stooges in the region—were shattered by Iran’s determination to fight back and inflict serious damage to their enemies’ prestige and much-ballyhooed “military superiority.”

Instead of electing a “moderate” cleric willing to compromise with Trump, the Iranians chose Mojtaba Khamenei, son of the martyred Ali Khamenei, as its new ‘Ayatollah’ or Supreme Leader, a post higher than that of President Masoud Pezeshkian.

Mojtaba Khamenei, the new Ayatollah of Iran and son of the martyred Ali Khamenei.. His election frustrated Israel and America’s desire for Iranians to choose a puppet cleric of Imperialism.

Khamenei, members of his family, some top 40 military leaders of Iran and more than 170 school children were among those massacred by US cruise missiles during the initial wave of American attacks on Iran last February 28.

Mojtaba has been described as “more radical” and “more militant” than his father; whereas Khamenei allegedly forbade Iran from building a nuclear bomb, Mojtaba is reportedly willing to take that path to ensure the security of the Islamic Republic from further imperialist and Zionist aggression.

Contrary also to expectations, the Iranian people did not revolt—but went out in the millions to condemn the murder of Khamenei while supporting their government’s hardline position of no more negotiation but just a continuation of the war until both aggressors and their Arab accomplices are given a “bitter lesson” that would make them hesitate before attacking Iran again.

The Arab countries, which allowed their territories to become host to some 19 US bases spread out from Saudi Arabia down to the border of Turkey aimed at encircling Iran, were in a state of shock.

US bases in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan, Oman, Syria, Dubai, Iraq and as far as Cyprus, are now part of the battlefield being regularly bombarded by Iran with drones and ballistic missiles.

An oil tanker burns at the Strait of Hormuz after sailing without the permission of Iran. The Strait is effectively close to global oil traffic since the war started on February 28, except for Iran’s close allies, China and Russia.

The failure of the highly priced US air defense systems such as the Patriots and THAAD systems in shooting down incoming Iranian missiles shattered the Arabs’ illusion that being puppets to America would give them the security they demanded.

In Israel, the situation is much worse despite heavy censorship and the continued targeting of independent journalists doing actual ground reporting to prevent the truth from coming out.

Iran is inflicting damage on Israeli cities, facilities and infrastructure equivalent to, if not more severe than, what Israel is causing to Iran.

Israel is now sustaining loses far quickly than it can replace that on March 16, various media like The Daily Telegraph and Hindustan Times reported that Israel secretly informed Washington that it is now “critically low” on ballistic missiles interceptors, a report that was denied however, by Tel Aviv.

Adding to the Zionist’s problem is the entry into the war of Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen and the pro-Iran groups in Iraq as the war has become a ‘multi-front’ engagement covering nearly the entire Middle East.

No support even inside his administration

With the aggression that cannot be justified under international law, Trump’s call for global support to help US forces in re-opening the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf to global oil traffic has been rejected even by America’s most abject puppets such as the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan and Australia. All of them rejected sending their own naval task force in re-opening the Strait.

Former US National Intelligence Deputy Director and Head of National Counterterrorism Center, Joseph Kent, at the Tucker Carlson show, elaborates why he resigned in protest of Trump’s war against Iran.

Trump has become so desperate for help that he has even asked China—whom he also expects to suffer from lack of oil supply should Iran fall—for help thru its own naval assets.

Trump’s threat to cancel his summit with President Xi Jinping by the end of March or early April failed to impress the Chinese leadership who pointed out that the Strait is part of the sovereign territory of Iran.

More than 20 percent of global traffic in crude and processed oil passes thru the Strait and its continued quarantine by Iran as part of its self-defense strategy left countries like the Philippines starving for supply.

But the biggest shock thus far showing that Trump does not have the support of the American people in the unfolding military disaster is the resignation last March 17 of Joseph Kent, the second highest American intelligence official after National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard.

“I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran,” Kent wrote to Trump in his letter that he subsequently posted in his “X” account (formerly Twitter).

“Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby,” Kent added.

Kent served as the director of the National Counterterrorism Center, the US agency responsible for coordinating and analyzing terrorism intelligence.

Joseph Kent’s resignation letter to President Donald Trump he posted on social media where he said he cannot “in good conscience” support the war against Iran.

His profile would classify him as an “ultra-nationalist” and a “right winger” in politics and ideology.

Kent is a US Army Special Forces veteran who had 11 combat tours in the Middle East, including the US aggression against Iraq in 2003. After his military stint, he was recruited into the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) before turning to politics as Republican with the full support of Trump who later picked him as the deputy to Gabbard.

Kent pointed out that Trump had pledged to keep the US out of “never-ending wars”, like those that had unfolded in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“Until June 2025, you understood that the wars in the Middle East were a trap that robbed America of the precious lives of our patriots and depleted the wealth and prosperity of our nation,” Kent told Trump.

But Kent observed that Trump, early in his second term, had been influenced by “high-ranking Israeli officials and influential members of the American media” that undermined his own ‘America First’ agenda and laid the door open for a war with Iran.

“This echo chamber was used to deceive you into believing that Iran posed an imminent threat to the United States, and that if you struck now, there was a clear path to a swift victory,” Kent said.

“This was a lie and is the same tactic the Israelis used to draw us into the disastrous Iraq war that cost our nation the lives of thousands of our best men and women. We cannot make this mistake again,” Kent told the US President.
