THE Port of Clark of the Bureau of Customs announced the seizure of a substantial volume of illegal drugs from Malaysia valued at P7.562 million.
District Collector Jairus Reyes said the illegal drugs (shabu) were found hidden by alert members of the ‘XIP’ (X-Ray Inspection Project) from a parcel consisting of undergarments, tea bags, a vacuum cleaner, and a rice cooker that arrived last May 6 with the final destination at an address in Bacoor, Cavite.
14 tape-sealed transparent plastic bags wrapped in brown packaging tape were found inside the vacuum cleaner that later turned out to be shabu weighing 538 grams while 12 more tape-sealed transparent plastic bags weighing 574 grams of shabu were found inside the rice cooker.
Collector Reyes did not disclose if any arrest was made nor disclose the name of the consignee and the shipper, citing ongoing investigation.
