BOC-NAIA retains ISO rating after audit
Passenger with ₱13.365 million MJ arrested
THE Bureau of Customs – Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA) under District Collector Atty. Yasmin O. Mapa, successfully retained its ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Certification following a recertification audit conducted by TÜV SÜD Philippines.
The audit resulted in zero non-conformities, with only opportunities for improvement identified, highlighting the Port’s strong adherence to international quality management standards with the close support from the agency’s Quality Management Unit (QMU), which served as the internal auditors throughout the process.
Mapa said their achievement also reflects NAIA’s commitment to quality service, operational excellence, and continuous improvement, in line with the Integrity, Accountability, and Customs Modernization (IAM) Program of Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno.
Meanwhile, a Filipino passenger arriving from Thailand was arrested at Terminal 1 last June 4 after 8.91 kilos of high-grade marijuana or ‘Kush’ worth ₱13.3 million was found in his checked-in baggage.
The contraband was uncovered during routine X-ray screening and later confirmed following a positive K9 alert by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the NAIA statement said.
