THE Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) has conferred a Certificate of Recognition on Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno in appreciation of his exemplary leadership, unwavering commitment to public service, and invaluable contributions to strengthening customs administration, trade facilitation, border protection, and national development.
The recognition is the latest in the cascading flow of appreciation and recognition coming from various reputable business groups and organizations to Nepomuceno’s transparent and firm management style since he assumed the top Customs post last year.
The ongoing reform at the agency that continues to gather wide support is anchored on Nepomuceno’s simple but effective agenda of Integrity, Accountability and Modernization (IAM-BOC).
The Port of Cebu under District Collector Alexandra Lumontad said they are one in celebrating with Commissioner Nepomuceno the “well-deserved” recognition from the CCCI.
Meanwhile, the agency reported that it has generated ₱329.934 million in the first 5 months of the year thru its ‘non-traditional’ revenue strategy by way of auction and negotiated sale of seized and forfeited goods.
All BOC public auctions and negotiated sales are livestreamed and open to the public, including the media, enabling real-time monitoring and ensuring transparency in the disposal process.
The most substantial revenue came from the sale of the 13 luxury vehicles seized last September 2025 from the couple Curlee and Sarah Discaya, the private contractors now in jail for involvement in the multi-billion flood control project scam.
From these vehicles alone, the BOC said it managed to raise ₱114,744,884.15, in duties and taxes with the first tranche amounting to ₱102 million remitted to the Bureau of Treasury last March (Pinoy Exposé, March 10, 2026).
“Hindi po napupunta sa personal na interes ang proceeds mula sa auction.
“Ang mga ito ay government funds na dumadaan sa tamang proseso, mula sa opisyal na resibo, recording, deposit, hanggang audit.
“Kaya mahalagang malaman ng publiko na ang bawat pisong nakukuha mula sa auction ay accounted for at pinamamahalaan ayon sa batas,” Commissioner Nepomuceno explained.
