DEPARTMENT Of Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla has designated Senior Undersecretary Jesse Andres as acting director of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) effective August 18, in order to provide leadership and unhampered public access to its services.
Assistant Secretary Mico Clavano, DOJ spokesperson, said Andres would continue to lead the NBI while Remulla continues to search for a new director for recommendation to President Marcos with the sudden, irrevocable resignation, of Judge Jaime Santiago as NBI chief last August 15 (see related article).
Andres is not entirely a stranger to the NBI’s operations as chair of the DOJ’s Law Enforcement Cluster (LEC), a key member of which is the NBI.
