Russia to stage its own global media event in 2027

NANJING, China—DRAWING inspiration from the success of China’s ‘Belt and Road Journalists Network’ (BRJN), Vladimir Solovyev, President of the Russian Union of Journalists, announced they also intend to stage a global gathering of journalists in 2027.

Speaking during the afternoon session of the BRJN Forum at the Nanjing Hall of the International Youth Convention Hotel, Solovyev, who is among the distinguished media personalities invited, issued the invitation to all the journalists present. He later told Pinoy Exposé that the gathering is planned to happen by September next year with the final venue to be announced soon.

Solovyev also acknowledged the time and effort expended by the organizers and the Chinese government for making the 2026 Belt and Road Journalist Network Forum a huge success.

With the All-China Journalists Association (ACJA) as the spearhead, the BRJN has played a key role in promoting China’s ‘Belt and Road Initiative’ (BRI) on a global scale. The BRI was officially launched by President Xi Jinping in 2013.

To date, its membership has grown to more than 110 media organizations representing over 1.67 million media professionals.

At the 2026 BRJN Forum that run from October 10 to October 17, nearly 100 journalists coming from 57 countries were in attendance, which is about the same number of participants the year before.

The occasion was used by China to push for its call for journalists to unite under the banner of mutual cooperation, greater media responsibility, the use of AI (artificial intelligence) for better news content and in highlighting the success and benefits of Chinese modernization.

The yearly forum has become effective in combatting the distortions and malignant effort by the United States and its Western minions to discredit China’s success story in the eyes of the global community (see related article here).

For Russia, a similar gathering of independent journalists could help counter the distortions routinely spread by corporate Western media and other major news organizations advancing Western interests, particularly about the reasons for Russia’s 2022 ‘Special Military Operation’ (SMO) in Eastern Ukraine.
