CONTINUED vigilance by assigned Customs personnel at the Port of Clark this week resulted to two successful interdictions of illegal drugs worth over ₱19 million.
District Collector Jairus Reyes, in his initial report to Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno, said 1.706 kilos of shabu with an estimated cost of ₱11.601 million were intercepted after alert personnel from the X-Ray Inspection Project (XIP) detected the contraband hidden inside a shipment of “car parts” from South Africa consigned to an address in Angeles City, Pampanga.
After being flagged and subjected to 100 percent inspection, authorities discovered 2 engine pistons and 1 tensioner pulley kit concealing 17 black and transparent plastic packages.
Their contents were later confirmed to be shabu, Reyes said.
In the other incident, timely information from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) resulted to the discovery of 1.675 kilos of Ketamine valued at ₱8.375 million, Reyes said.
The shipment coming from France was declared as “Indoor Decorative Molded Polyresin Ornament.”
The successful interdictions brought the value of the confiscated illegal drugs at ₱19.976 million.
