FOLLOWING the delusional criticism against China by that barbarian in the Philippine Star, Andrew Masigan, who is also a talking head of the MEMRI (Middle East Media Research Institute) led by genocidal Israeli Defense Force Colonel Yigal Carmon, now comes the quintessential American Boy (Amboy) Rafael Alunan.
Writing last May 27 in The Manila Times, Alunan asked, “Is China unraveling faster than expected?” One can only guffaw out loud reading this title.
The piece tries to paint a scary picture of the goings on in China, claiming the country is facing “serious economic downturn and spreading financial crisis; social unrest arising from bank holidays, business closures, job loss and unpaid wages. Factories are being burned in protest.” But what are the facts and the reality?
China is nearing the apex of its historical comeback after its 19th century nadir known as the ‘Century of Humiliation.’ It is today leading the Global Majority towards a new era of a multipolar world and beating Western Imperialism in trade, economics, scientific innovation as well as defense technologies.
China’s economy already surpassed the US in 2022 in PPP terms being 23 percent larger; its navy today has approximately 400 ships compared to only 295 that of the US.
China’s trade surplus in 2024 with the US is $350-billion and $1-trillion with the world. This is not suprising as 70 percent of the world or 145 economies have China as their top trading partner, not America.
On the other hand, the US has a $1.2-trillion trade deficit with the world, compelling President Donald Trump to launch his Tariff War against everybody but specifically against China in the false belief this would fix America’s trade deficit problem.
Last May 13, 2025 President Xi Jinping played his host in Beijing for three sitting presidents, including President Lula de Silva (Brazil), and scores of representatives from 33 nations of the CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) at the China-CELAC Forum.
Just two weeks later China, the Gulf Cooperation Council and ASEAN started their meeting in Kuala Lumpur in what news feeds have described as “A New Power Bloc of the Global South.”
Much earlier in the year, in January, the China-Africa ties kicked off with China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi visiting multiple African countries to mark the beginning of China’s Africa diplomatic calendar.
China under President Xi Jinping is consolidating and building peace and cooperation for a multipolar and prosperous world.
Alunan’s The Manila Times piece is regularly an anti-China gossip column that churns out low quality propaganda that never cites any valid and credible source of information.
His claim of “serious economic downturn and spreading financial crisis” in China is another pulp fiction. Heck, even the pro-West, anti-China global media just reported China’s first quarter GDP growth of 5.4 percent.
Harvard University’s Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation, which has been conducting ‘the longest-running independent effort to track Chinese citizens’ satisfaction with government performance’ since 2003 recently reported that 93 percent of the Chinese people are satisfied with the performance of their national government while provincial governments’ performance enjoyed 82 percent satisfaction. The Ash Center’s survey results should debunk Alunan’s claim of “spreading social unrest” in China.
The Manila Times should not waste its precious space for people like Alunan whose mental faculty has become suspect thru the garbage he is passing off as ‘wisdom.’
