‘It’s you who disparaged Nobel Peace Prize—Badoy

Won’t be cowed by Ressa’s complaint at OMB

PRESIDENTIAL communications undersecretary Lorraine Marie T. Badoy is unfazed over an administrative complaint filed against her by convicted Rappler Philippines chief executive, Maria Ressa at the Ombudsman, countering it is Ressa who had “disparaged” the Nobel Peace Prize.

The complaint, filed last April 19, 2022, accuses Badoy of violations of RA 6713 (Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials)—conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the government, insubordination and misconduct– for the latter’s post at her Facebook account where she called Ressa a “sociopath,” “rotten soul,” and “master bullshit” among others.

Ressa also appeared to have taken offense over Badoy’s remark describing her receiving the Nobel Peace Prize as ‘Nobel Piss Prize.’

“These defamatory remarks diminish my reputation and are highly improper considering it came from Respondent Badoy, a high-ranking government official who is expected to observe ‘the highest degree of excellence, professionalism, intelligence and skill’ as required by Section 4(A) of the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards,” Ressa argued further.

But in a statement released on April 21, 2022 and approved by the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), where Badoy is also one of its spokespersons, a defiant Badoy dismissed the complaint; Badoy would also not take back her claim that Ressa and Rappler have become a “mouthpiece” of terrorist organizations, particularly the Communist Party of the Philippines, the New People’s Army and the National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF).

“The complaint filed by convicted criminal Maria Ressa (who is on bail pending appeal) against me is nothing more than one more attempt by the CPP NPA NDF to silence the NTF ELCAC because indeed Rappler is a mouthpiece of this terrorist organization,” Badoy declared.

In Rappler’s report of its boss suing Badoy, it also took note of similar administrative cases filed against Badoy by known front organizations of the CPP also before the OMB, events that was only given full coverage by Rappler.

“She has claimed that I have disparaged the Nobel Peace Prize but nothing could have disparaged the Nobel Peace Prize more than the conferment of it on Maria Ressa,” Badoy countered.

“And not only has the Nobel Peace Prize been disparaged by Maria Ressa but disparaged beyond repair,” she added.

Badoy also noted that when the Nobel Prize Committee awarded the peace prize to Ressa last October 8, 2021, it was also the day the Nobel Peace Prize died and exposed for what it had come to mean to the Filipino people: a worthless, dangerous trinket conferred by powerful puppet masters on vassals with no real love for country and who willingly do the bidding of their Western overlords to cause war, bloodshed and grief.

“She (Ressa) has fashioned herself as a martyr to a gullible Western media by lying about the state of Philippine press in what must be the freest free press in the known democratic world,” Badoy added.

Badoy also reminded the Western media to remember that Ressa is just “a common criminal convicted of cyberlibel (on bail pending appeal) by the horrid lies she’s told about ordinary citizens using her clout as head of a foreign-funded blogsite that’s violated Philippine SEC laws, wholesale.”

“Maria Ressa has accused me of conduct unbecoming of a ‘high ranking government official who is expected to observe the highest degree of excellence, professionalism, intelligence and skill.’

“I submit that there can be no better conduct of a high government official than to uphold my oath of office to defend and protect the Constitution from all threats and to use the powers vested on me to defeat a terrorist organization that has destroyed our people and our bright promise as a nation,” Badoy stressed.
