Govt. gains over ₱12 million from sale of remaining ‘Discaya vehicles’
THE Bureau of Customs (BOC) announced the completion of another series of negotiated sales that included the sale of the 4 remaining luxury vehicles seized from Curlee and Sarah Discaya, the disgraced private contractors now in jail for involvement in the multi-billion flood control project scandal.
In a statement last May 27, the agency said it raised more than ₱12.3 million from the negotiated sale of 21 lots of abandoned and forfeited goods from participating ports, namely the Port of Manila, Port of Cagayan De Oro, and Manila International Container Port.
A total of 5 sale lots were successfully disposed of through the negotiated sale at the POM, including one Volvo XC90 2009 valued at ₱70,000.
The four remaining Discaya vehicles disposed of include: a 2022 GMC XL Yukon Denali (₱3.209 million), a 2021 Cadillac Escalade (₱3.750 million), a 2022 Maserati Levante Modena (₱2.008 million), and a 2022 GMC Yukon Denali (₱3.309 million).
The sale is expected to generate total proceeds amounting to ₱12,346,000, with the four Discaya vehicles accounting for ₱12,276,000, The final approval, however, would come from Finance Secretary Frederick Go, in accordance to Customs Memorandum Order (CMO) 26-2020, the BOC said in its statement.
“With the disposal of the remaining vehicles, the BOC has fully disposed of all 13 seized Discaya vehicles,” the BOC said.
“These proceeds will also be remitted to the Bureau of the Treasury bringing the total value to ₱114,744,884.15,” it added.
Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno emphasized that the successful disposal reflects the BOC’s commitment to decisive and transparent customs administration.
“Today’s completion of the disposal of all remaining Discaya vehicles reflects the Bureau’s firm commitment to transparency, accountability, and decisive action in the management of forfeited assets.
“More importantly, it demonstrates our continued efforts to ensure that government resources are properly utilized in a manner that serves the best interests of the Filipino people,” he added.
It can be recalled that last September (Pinoy Exposé, September 2, 2025) at the height of the flood control project scandal, the BOC, armed with a court warrant, towed away some 28 vehicles found from one of the Discaya’s buildings in Pasig City for verification of their papers of which 13 of them were found to be smuggled or of having questionable registration documents.
The BOC then decided to auction the vehicles to raise additional revenue for the government.
