₱841 million fake goods seized in Valenzuela raid

THE Bureau of Customs raided and padlocked a warehouse in Valenzuela City after discovering assorted fake consumer goods valued at more than ₱841 million.

In a statement on May 28, the agency said the onsite inspection and site validation based on a ‘LOA’ (Letter Of Authority) signed by Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno and implemented by the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) last April 10 was prompted by a derogatory information that the warehouse was storing fake consumer products.

Based on the official inventory, a total of 1,460 boxes of perfumes and 364 boxes of lotions bearing markings of various international brands, including Jo Malone, Versace, and Cetaphil, among others, were found.

The warehouse was sealed and secured by customs personnel with the assistance of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), for further investigation. A Warrant of Seizure and Detention (WSD) was likewise issued last April 28.
