BOC surpasses September target by P12.5 billion
For the fourth consecutive month now
THE Bureau of Customs is “on a roll” in its revenue collection effort after registering an impressive 33 percent positive deviation for the month of September, the fourth consecutive month the BOC has surpassed its target collection.
Preliminary data released by the bureau’s Financial Service, showed actual cash collection last month at P50.226 billion, 33 percent higher than its its target of P37.715 billion or a surplus of P12.511 billion.
The data also showed that 14 collection districts, out of the bureau’s 17 collection districts, contributed to the effort, namely:
Ports of San Fernando, MICP, NAIA, Batangas, Cebu, Tacloban, Surigao, Cagayan de Oro, Zamboanga, Davao, Subic, Clark, Aparri and Limay.
Assistant Commissioner and spokesman, Atty. Vincent ‘Jett’ Maronilla, said they remain confident the agency would be able to meet its collection target for the year, which is P506.150 billion.
He noted that to date, the BOC has already collected P397.514 billion since January, which is already 78.5 percent of their annual target.
Maronilla credited the agency’s impressive performance to the gradual improvement of importation volume, the national government’s effort towards ensuring unhampered movement of goods despite the pandemic and the commitment of his fellow officials and employees to good governance.
Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero, in a message, commended the “collective effort” of bureau personnel and officials “who despite the risk to their health and safety, continue to demonstrate their unwavering commitment and dedication to service.”
