BUREAU Of Customs Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno has ordered another wave of random drug test covering all officials and employees in the agency’s 15 collection districts.
In a statement, the drug test is in line with the call of President Marcos Jr. to uphold programs that will reinforce the public’s trust in government.
The initiative also aligns with Customs Memorandum Circular (CMC) 248-2018, institutionalizing the Philippine Anti-Illegal Drugs Strategy (PADS), which was formulated by the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB).
The strategy provides a clear and balanced framework to enhance the government’s efforts against illegal drugs and their precursors, while also reinforcing the country’s dedication to global initiatives in addressing the problem of illicit drugs.
“The vision I hold for the Bureau of Customs is a culture rooted professionalism and accountability.
“In advancing this, we also extend our strong support to the Dangerous Drugs Board’s campaign to eradicate the illicit supply and demand for dangerous drugs and precursor chemicals,” Commissioner Nepomuceno emphasized.
