THE Bureau of Customs (BOC) is inviting stakeholders to participate in the beta testing of its upgraded Online Tax Estimator as part of its continuing drive for modernization and improved public service.
Developed with the assistance of the bureau’s Management Information System and Technology Group (MISTG), Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno said the “enhanced” tool provides a more comprehensive and user-friendly breakdown of duties, taxes, and other lawful charges.
With this, stakeholders can expect a clearer and more accurate guide to their obligations, making the importation process thru online purchases more transparent and easier to understand.
“With this initiative, the Bureau of Customs is not only offering a more accessible and user-friendly tool but also demonstrating our determination to improve systems that directly serve the needs of the public,” Commissioner Nepomuceno said.
It can be recalled that actress Bea Padilla posted on social media last August 16, questioning the sudden increase in the tax payments of the cosmetic products she ordered online.
Instead of taking offense, Commissioner Nepomuceno welcomed the post as an opportunity to further address deficiencies in the system, a gesture that the actress welcomed in her subsequent social media post (Pinoy Exposé, August 20, 2025).
The Customs chief added they always welcome positive criticisms and valuable feedback from stakeholders as they play an important role in strengthening the bureau’s programs and services.
The BOC said the beta version can be accessed at https://customs.gov.ph/estimator and share their comments and suggestions via mistg@customs.gov.ph.
