‘Kush MJ,’ shabu, seized at Clark, NAIA

A PARCEL declare as “Women’s Woven Shirt” was intercepted by joint elements of the Bureau of Customs (BOC), the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and the Clark Inter-Agency Task Force Against Illegal Drugs (CRK-IATFAID) at the Port of Clark that led to the discovery of 504 grams of high-grade marijuana, commonly known as “kush,” valued at ₱756,000.

Port of Clark District Collector Jairus Reyes, in a report to Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno, said the shipment arrived from Canada at the last week of February bound for an address in Dasmariñas City, Cavite and was immediately subjected to close inspection based on derogatory information.

During inspection, authorities discovered 6 aluminum foil-wrapped packages containing 6 transparent plastic pouches filled with dried leaves and fruiting weighing 504 grams and later confirmed as marijuana.

Since the start of the year, Reyes noted that the Port of Clark has already prevented the entry of over ₱22 million worth of narcotics.

At the Ninoy International Airport (NAIA), District Collector Atty. Yasmin Obillo-Mapa informed Commissioner Nepomuceno on the discovery and seizure of nearly 8 kilos of of shabu and ‘Ecstasy’ party drugs worth ₱29.712 million last March 2.

Mapa said the contraband were found hidden in three parcels, two of which were sent from Berlin, Germany and the other from Zambia, a country in Africa.

Mapa said the parcel from Zambia declared as ‘Vehicle Air Filters’ yielded 3.596 kilos of shabu worth ₱24,452,800 and more than 4 kilos of Ecstasy valued at ₱5,259,800.00.

The two parcels shipped from Berlin for delivery to a recipient in Pasig City and declared as ‘Garden Sculpture’ figurines were found to contain Ecstasy weighing approximately 2.032 kilos and 2.014 kilos, respectively.
