Independent foreign policy, not servility, to save us from ruin

NOW that Russia has finally decided to militarily intervene in Eastern Ukraine (Donbass region) on Thursday, February 24, 2022, in answer to the cry for military protection against the government in Kiev by the local Russian residents, the “best response” US Imperialism and its NATO minions can give is the imposition of “economic sanctions” against Russia.

In other words, forget about sending in American soldiers whose families are yet to finish grieving over the slaughter they received from the hands of the Taliban in Afghanistan last year.

Over the last few months prior to the attack, US Imperialism, along with its NATO toadies, have been warning Russia any military action would be met with “decisive force” (read: militarily) and one that would be both “regrettable” and “catastrophic” for Russia.

That has not happened thus far, forcing Ukraine president, Volodymir Zelensky, to broadcast that he is now willing to sit down with Russia and discuss issues after realizing that NATO and the US’ promise of military intervention on its behalf is not going to happen.

Zelensky now belatedly realized that not only is NATO and US Imperialism a proven “paper tiger” as Chairman Mao has been saying all along, but also, a raving dog whose bark is worse than its bite—mas nakakatakot pa ang kahol, kumpara sa kagat, hehehe!

Now if I am sounding like favoring Russian actions in the Donbass, I say, why not?

Russia entered the Donbass in response to the plea of its citizens who has been suffering terribly from the hands of the neo-Fascist regime in Kiev for the last 6 years, at least;

Russia has been repeatedly slapped around by NATO and US Imperialism since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 by repeatedly breaking their promise that NATO would not expand “eastward”—“not by an inch,” they said– towards the border states of Russia.

Uninformed and misinformed Filipinos should be reminded of this: Ukraine is Russia in the same way that Taiwan is China and Sabah is the Philippines.

And the “crisis” in Ukraine is due to the machinations of US Imperialism and NATO in order to encircle Russia. Thus, it is only right for Russia to finally say, ‘Nyet!’

And now that Russia has had enough, its actions in the Donbass show what is the essence of US Imperialism and NATO—bullies who would cower in fear and disunity once confronted by an opponent of their own size and weight—if not more. Sa Tagalog? Nakakuha rin sila ng “katapat,” hahaha!

And we need not forget that it was Russia, back then the Soviet Union, which defeated Hitler’s Germany and liberated Europe from the Nazi jackboots, not the US Army, regardless of what official history has taught us afterwards.

And yes, Russia has one other “weapon” that US Imperialism and NATO must now take into account—its strategic partnership and friendship with China.

I am sure that China would backstop Russia to the fullest extent possible, thus negating the impact of the harshness of the economic sanctions against Russia being prepared by the entire imperialist camp.

Over the current events in Ukraine, it is good that there is the independent foreign policy of Pres. Duterte that can be reflected on, especially by our presidential candidates.

In this time of great peril, one realized that only by clinging to this policy can we hope to overcome the other crisis that is expected to be brought about by the crisis in Ukraine.

The goings-on in Ukraine also make us realized how stupid, shallow and ignorant most of our presidential candidates are like Leni Robredo, Ping Lacson and Isko Moreno, among others.

From their pronouncements, one suspects that all they are reading and mouthing are the handouts from the US Embassy.

What a pathetic lot! And these are the ones seeking to rule over us in the next six, crucial years of our lives?

I tell you, dear readers, sino man sa mga ito ang manalo, “tigok” ang Pinas.

Isusubo tayo ng mga ito sa giyera na wala tayong kalam-alam at walang kalaban-laban.

We must learn from Ukraine. When push comes to shove, they were left hanging out to dry by US and NATO, as what we are seeing now.
