US spies, betrays, dumps allies.

THE U.S. has accused China’s Huawei of maintaining a “backdoor” in its smartphones, 5G devices, and other manufactured communications equipment to enable the Chinese military to spy on the rest of the world. That accusation accompanied U.S. FBI.Director Chris Wray warning against buying Huawei and ZTE phones; over two-and-a-half years later, the U.S., as always, has produced no proof.

Now, is US science and technology so wonky that, after two-and-a-half years, or close to a thousand days, it still cannot produce any evidence of spying by Chinese technology and companies? Meanwhile, the EU has repeatedly produced countless evidence of US spying on its European allies over the past ten years.

Whenever it suits the US, it can indeed be very competent in spying – on its own allies. We have seen many examples of US treachery against its own “friends” in the imbroglio over its spying on EU leaders.

It is a wonder then why there are still some Filipinos who trust the US, such as Sen. Risa Hontiveros, who keeps on barking at imagined security threats from Chinese 5G technology, chief of which is Huawei.

Hontinveros and her ilk don’t seem capable of learning the lessons of today’s Europe where no “ally” is safe from U.S. spying.

On the other hand, some here will say, there’s no need for the U.S. to spy in the Philippines as many of its officials are already spies for America. Even a supposed hero, Ninoy Aquino, proudly boasted that he “worked with and not for the CIA.”

The “Amboys,” or Filipino lapdog-admirers of America, are not looking at the lessons that caused the EU to be in an uproar during the last few weeks over Denmark’s conspiracy with US in spying on Germany and other major European countries. Nor do they recognize that U.S. spying is not limited to other countries as it also spies on its own people.

US.National Security Agency whistleblower Edward Snowden, who exposed US.harvesting of information from American citizens during peacetime (a serious violation of the U.S. Constitution), now has to be protected from U.S. authorities in Russia, which gave him “unlimited permanent residency”.

But spying is one thing; now, there is betrayal to cap it off.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has bemoaned the U.S. lifting of sanctions on the Nord Stream 2 German-Russia natural gas pipeline that “could cut his country off from energy supplies” once the project is completed. Unfortunately for him, it does not bother the US now that Joe Biden needs to dispense with the welfare of one ally for his crumbling empire’s self-interest.

Similarly, in another part of the world, the US is abandoning its Afghan allies through the final withdrawal of its forces from a country that it has ravaged with war for over twenty years. Remember “Operation Enduring Freedom” being officially declared over in 2014, only to be rebranded as “Operation Freedom’s Sentinel,” which goes on until this day to become the US’ longest war?

As in the aftermath of the US defeat in the Vietnam War, the local allies and staff of US military forces in Afghanistan – i.e. translators, drivers, kitchen staff etc. – are being left behind in desperate terror over reprisals, due to the imminent takeover of the Taliban.

These local Afghans who served their occupier with loyalty are now literally “begging” to be brought to the US to save their families’ lives.

The young generations may have no memory of the Vietnamese exiles, some of whom I cared for in refugee centers in the Philippines, as they came during and after the war.

Just imagine: A total of two-and-a-half millions victims of that American war (Laotians, Cambodian, Hmongs, and other tribes) had to escape Indo-China in dangerously unstable boats, causing hundreds to drown.

The US has created nothing but misery in its 239 years of existence. It has launched 222 wars mainly against small, weak nations and “won” two major world wars by joining the fray only in the final stages to take advantage of the postwar economies where its industries would have no competition. Eventually, the US betrays its allies when they are no longer of any use.

The US is a shrewd military power; it never takes on a formidable enemy on its own.

It will join or start alliances and make the other countries fight first before jumping in wholeheartedly.

When the death toll becomes too painful for the mothers and wives of their soldiers, they end the war and dump these supposed allies like hot potatoes. All throughout, the US spies on these allies to ensure control over them.

You can be sure that the US is most guilty of what it accuses its major rivals of doing. It spews black smoke to cover its own crimes even as it goes full blast in its criminal activities.

Even now, the US is exerting every effort to spy on President Duterte. Its problem is Duterte is likely using Huawei phones and equipment that are impenetrable to all of these U.S. spy agencies.
