THE Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) headed by Chairman Atty. Alex Lopez and General Manager and CEO Engr. Cesar Siador Jr., continues to answer the call of President Marcos Jr. for all government agencies to support the administration’s poverty reduction program with the groundbreaking of three new school buildings in Cavite and the inauguration of more school-based hydroponic agriculture facilities in the province.

In a statement, the PRA said the groundbreaking for the new public school buildings was held last August 17 in the town of Ternate with GM Siador leading other PRA officials to the occasion that includes Director Eligio T. Ildefonso; Assistant General Manager Joseph John Literal; and Department Manager Ynna Margarita Yalong-Gelomina.

Welcoming them during the groundbreaking ceremony are Ternate Municipal Vice Mayor Calvin Kenneth C. Soberano; OIC-Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Ruben E. Faltado III; Chief, Schools Governance and Operations Division Dr. Diana P. Topacio; PGENRO Environmental Management Specialist Amanette A. Pulido; and PHCC AVP for Project Development Roncel Nebre.

The PRA said the Parang Elementary School and the Ternate Central Elementary School would each receive a one-storey building with two classrooms each while the San Juan Ternate National High School will receive a two-storey building with four classrooms.

The project is being undertaken under the PRA’s Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) in partnership with the Pasay Harbor City Corporation (PHCC).

As part of its community outreach program, the PRA also turned over 15 wheelchairs to fisherfolk associations in the municipality.

Boosting Hydroponic Farming

A month before, the PRA also inaugurated four more school-based hydroponic farm facilities in Ternate and the nearby town of Tanza. Hydroponic farming is one of the agency’s key programs in support of the President’s ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ agenda on food security.

The project seeks to provide students with practical learning opportunities, ween them away from vices, develop their entrepreneurial skills and contribute to community development through innovative agricultural practices.

Chairman Lopez noted that the PRA’s present solid financial foundation has enabled them to allocate more funds for their ‘CSR’ (Corporate Social Responsibility) programs, in response to the President’s call.

He bared further that between 2023 and this year, the PRA has already set aside some ₱2.3 billion for its CSR.

₱210 million, he added, has been set aside for the ‘Hydroponic Farming Project,’ where they target 2.8 million youths and students as beneficiaries in 700 schools across the country (Pinoy Exposé, August 1, 2026).

Last July 29, the PRA said it also distributed calamansi, cacao, rambutan, and avocado seedlings in Bgy. Ramirez, Magallanes, in support of the government’s ‘National Greening Program.’

The seedlings distribution forms part of the 10-hectare reforestation initiative of the PRA targeting the planting of 5,000 indigenous and fruit-bearing trees, including narra, molave, white lauan, guyabano, and other native species.
