BOC-Davao boosts SPMC capacity with donation

THE patient-care capacity of the Southern Philippines Medical Center located in Davao City was recently boosted with a donation from the Bureau of Customs – Port of Davao.

District Collector Atty. Erastus Sandino ‘Dino’ Austria, personally delivered to the hospital the donation consisting of 38 hospital beds and various medical equipment such as walkers, medical trolleys and folding beds, loaded in a 40-footer container van. The simple turnover ceremony was held last August 16, 2021.

The SPMC is the largest government hospital in Mindanao.

SPMC Medical Chief, Dr. Ricardo B. Audan, FPAFP, officially received the donation and expressed his gratitude to the BOC as it will not only add to their capacity but would also benefit their frontline workers and patients.

Austria added the Port of Davao remains on full operation despite being on skeletal work arrangement due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He also assured the continuing “expeditious release” of all health and medical-related imports such as ‘personal protective equipment (PPE), including donations arriving at the port.

“Being frontliners ourselves, we remain committed to the call of duty to ensure that goods are released without undue delay in this time of crisis,” Austria added.
