AT THE recent Shangri-la Security Dialogue of the British war think tank International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) annually held in Singapore, Philippine defense secretary Gibo Teodoro did one of the primary tasks assigned to him by his puppet masters – promote war and U.S. arms sales.
Gibo declared in his speech, “It is imperative of all countries to increase their defense spending. There is no one country that is exempt from building your own national defense.” The call is in support of the U.S. sales campaign to boost its profits from arms spending of its “vassal” governments in Japan, South Korea, Australia, Taiwan and the impoverished Philippines, among a few others.
For the vassal governments to justify more taxes and borrowings for the additional arms spending, the climate of tension and anticipation of war must be created, and that is another assignment of Gibo.
His deliberate, scandalous, loudmouth and constant vituperations against China, though baseless, are just loud noises for the U.S. social media trolls to reverberate through Facebook, X and other social media platforms.
The U.S. is taking massive efforts to exploit the “China threat,” the “Expansionist China” bogey in Asia and the Philippines, while simultaneously maneuvering its clients, the local comprador elites and captured political class into positions of fascistic power to impose widely unpopular oppressive economic policies subservient to U.S. economic exploitation (such as tariffs, U.S. oil buys, greater debt burden to buy U.S. arms).
The Americans are succeeding in both Japan and the Philippines in laying the political grounds in preparing these countries for an escalation of the military build-up towards an American proxy war in the not-too-distant future.
The corrupt Japanese ruling LDP under the militarist regime of PM Sanae Takaichi is pressing the revision of Japan’s post-WWII “Peace Constitution” that outlaws war and the maintenance of “land, sea, and air forces, as well as other war potential.”
Japan just doubled its defense budget to 2 percent of its GDP, announced it would get involved militarily in Taiwan, acquired and installed missiles capable of reaching China, liberalized export of lethal arms, signs a military pact with the hostile Philippine anti-China political leadership and boost its armed forces with warships and provokes China with the Maritime Delimitation agreement with the Philippines that steps on China’s Taiwan territorial waters and exclusive economic zone (EEZ).
In the Philippines, the U.S. re-captured the country’s seat of power, Malacañang, by controlling through inducements or political blackmail, President Bongbong Marcos.
He is suspected of being behind the trillions-peso plunder of the nation’s coffers in the “flood control scandal” to buy off enough politicians to control bought houses of Congress– another challenge that independent and anti-war forces must confront.
Unfortunately for the U.S. propagandists and psywar experts behind Gibo, he has lost all credibility after the exposé of his Maltese passport and nationality that he has not shown proof of giving up.
We learned that a case is to be filed by active military men against Gibo over this issue. Meanwhile, the CPP-leaning “Pamalakaya,” a fishermen’s group, rejected Gibo’s favoring US imperialism and the announced sanction against him and his wife and son by China all combined to erode his credibility down to zero. That goes for the entire Marcos caboodle.
