Claimant of P6.7 million shabu nabbed at CMEC
A WOMAN who went to the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City that is under the jurisdiction of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) was promptly arrested after claiming a parcel containing nearly a kilo of shabu worth more than P6.7 million.
In a statement last June 5, Port of NAIA district collector Atty. Yasmin O. Mapa said the illegal drugs, weighing 988.5 grams, were discovered during an inspection at the CMEC inside a parcel described as containing “ladies wear and bags.”
The claimant, whose identity was not disclosed, has been turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for criminal prosecution for violation of Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and Republic Act No. 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act).
